Parts of the Teaching Unit

INTRODUCTION

In our Teaching Unit we are going to talk about the United States of America, but focusing on a part of their culture: 

  - The festivities.

  - The monuments.

  - The music.

  - The gastronomy.

They can use this knowledge in the real life if someday they travell to USA. And also to know somehting of the culture of a country where English is spoken.

TEMPORALISATION

At this moment we are in the first trimester of 4th Primary, specifically at the end of  October. And these are the four sessions that we have made:

First session

In this session we are going to talk about some typical festivals celebrated in the United States. We will talk about some of them but we will focus in Halloween party. Then, we will do some activities about this festival.

Second session

In this session we will explain to our students the most important monuments in USA (The Statue of Liberty, Mount Rushmore, The White House, etc.) and a bit of their history. After that we’ll make some activities.

Third session

In this session we will introduce and explain our students the different type of music created in the US: blues, jazz, rap, country and rock. Then, we’ll make the corresponding activities to practise the different genres and recognize them. We will end the session singing a song chosen by the teacher.

Fourth session

In this session we explain to our students the gastronomy that is used in the US. We will see food from many countries that have become part of the Us’s gastronomy like british or mexican food. To finish, we will end up doing some activities.

METHODOLOGY

In this Teaching Unit we want the student to be participative through the activities, songs, etc. 

And for this, a blog is very useful, because in there you can put videos and photos which represent the theory that you are explaining.
